Extreme Close-up

ECU

Chin remain completely in the frame so that is does not get cut off when the actor opens his mouth.

Used for dramatic effect.

Sometimes a tighter close-up is just the eyes or just the mouth .

Close-Up

CU

Head shot that includes the shoulders.

Often used when a character is first introduced to a seen, this alows the viewer to get a good look at the character.

Medium Close-Up

MCU

The character's entire head and shoulders are in the frame.
This shot cuts off at the chest .

Medium Shot

MS

Cuts off at the waistline, with the subject's upper body completely in the frame.

Medium Long Shot

MLS

Halfway between the medium shot and the long shot.
It cuts off at the cubjects knees.

Long Shot

LS

Head to toe with the entire body being in the frame.
